本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛B.C. is the first jurisdiction in Canada to revise its legislation to remove the requirement for transsexual surgery in order for an individual to change their gender designation on their birth certificate.

Amendments to the Vital Statistics Act replace the previous requirement with a new process that allows citizens to change their gender designation on their government-issued identification to reflect their identified gender.

Also, an integrated gender policy between the BC Services Card program, ICBC driver licensing and BCID programs, the Medical Services Plan, and the Vital Statistics Agency updates identity-related services to enable citizens to change their gender designation on B.C. identity documents including: Birth Certificate, Driver’s Licence, BCID, Medical Services Plan client record, and BC Services Card.

You may apply to change your gender designation on your BC Services Card, driver’s licence, EDL, BCID or EIC. Gender is listed as “Sex” on all these cards, as well as your birth certificate.

我想很多人更担心的并不是真正的Transgender，而是有非Transgender的人利用这个做违法的事。也许视频中一些人的反应正是基于不能确定那人是不是Transgender而产生的。当这种反应和担心被简单的归于对Transgender的歧视，那就很难有有益的讨论了。 -barbarian(粗人); 2016-4-29 (#10076587@0)

如果预见到可能的一些问题，为什么不在开始前想办法尽量避免呢，为什么非要等出了事情在想办法解决呢？这是我说的如果支持一方能挑出valid的顾虑，然后come up一些尽可能的解决方法，而不是简单把顾虑当成歧视，那就会有更广泛的支持。

那也就不会去考虑是否有折中有效的办法。反过来，反对的人于是就很自然的连真正的Transgender一起反对了。其实不考虑common sense的一些所谓保护弱势的做法和法规，很有可能会最后伤害本身或其他需要保护的弱势群体。
