Toronto police say a two-month-old baby who was inside a stolen van has been found safe and sound on Sunday evening after the vehicle was abandoned.
Police responded to a call for the theft of a brown Toyota Sienna van around 7:40 p.m. at Italian Gardens Plaza in the Islington Avenue and Satterly Road area.
An infant boy was inside the van at the time it was taken.
Const. David Hopkinson said an Amber Alert was not issued because the incident was not deemed an abduction, but police did not rule it out.
Police say a local resident found the van abandoned on Cricklewood Road near Islington Avenue and Elmhurst Drive approximately two hours later. The child was uninjured and was assessed by paramedics on scene. An investigation is ongoing.
