本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛The magnificent Santa Claus Parade attracts hundreds and thousands Toronto residents including our parents and children. This morning we meet 8 families with 9 kids together (aged from 2 to 12 years) in the square of Fairview mall. In our previous events the small kids were dominant, but not today. Today the big kids consist of the main stream.
When everybody was heading to the parade, the subway was filled with people. As you could imagine, it’s not easy for us to find space for the whole group, but our group handled the situation very well. Our big kids also played a role as leaders. With our big kids’s suggestion, we moved from the head to the back of the train and easily got in the train. We all took the same train, it did create an environment to let our parents and kids know each other.
We arrived at Christie subway station before the parade starting. Our parents grasped the chance to take pictures when the bands are doing the final drill. After that, we divided into two groups. Our big kids run after the parade and our little guys took the subway back to Queen’s park.
The parade is glorious. Most of the performers are children. They are elegant. While you enjoyed the happiness, you may feel that very few faces are from visible minority in spite of more than 50% Toronto residents are immigrants. I always ask me the question, how could our kids get in?
Santa Claus Parade belongs to kids including ours, especially big kids. It becomes the most popular event in Toronto. It’s the best place to show our children.
