Ontario Immunization Schedule
For children in Ontario to attend school, they are legally required by the Immunization of School Pupils Act to be up-to-date with their immunizations. Otherwise, an affidavit stating conscientious exemption from immunization is required to attend school. However, during a disease outbreak within a school, children not immunized for that particular disease would be required to stay home from school until the end of the outbreak is declared.
The two charts below outline the legally and not legally required vaccination schedules for school attendance, including the vaccines for chickenpox, meningitis and pneumoncoccal diseases. These vaccines are part of the new provincially funded immunization programs that will be free to eligible groups starting between July 2004 and January 2005
