Just saw your post. My daughter is in Children's House. She joined TMS when she is almost 4 when we moved to the area. She was in another Montessori school in the beaches area for two years.

本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛So really I don't have much saying in TMS Toddler program. But based on our tour, TMS information session and my talks with parents from Toddler program, you do not have to worry about the nap that much. After the child gets used to it, they are fine with shorter nap.

My daughter is not in the Hot Meal plan, as far as I know, none of her classmates are on the plan regularly. I doubt the menus will fit your two years old in term of the size and items. I do have the menus if you want, I can give you some details when I am home. btw, the meals are provided by a company independent of school.

My daughter will remain in TMS in the foreseeable future. Currently it has no high school, but they already start planning so more students can streamline their education in one place.

Richmond Hill Montessori School is also good, but TMS is the model for the Montessori education in Toronto. Teachers of my daughter's previous school got training in TMS when they were certified. So it does mean something.

I know the notorious waiting list for Toddler Program so good luck !

      • Thanks a lot for your quick response! Really useful information. We are told that not many parents send their kids to the full-day toddler program so we will be able to enroll by September. Another question:
Do you think your daughter is learning too much? I mean is she sacrificing play time for knowledge? That's my main concern about Monterssori.
          • They learn when they are "playing". My daughter has a very habit learned from school. Even at home, she's really enjoy reading books and doing working.
        • For little kids, they can hardly tell the difference between working and playing. They learn the ideas, form the habits and develop the social skills while they are playing a variety of activities.
There is no academic pushing for kids. The main Montessori principle is to respect the individualism of each child and encourage them to learn at their own paces. What the school is offering is the environment that kids feel comfortable for learning. Yes, Montessori school is focusing a lot on reading and math, but as long as the kids love it, they won't treat it as burden. As a matter of fact, my daughter loves reading so much and she never feels that reading a book is a sort of work. So don't worry too much, they won't get punished if they do not like math or reading.
      • 请问你们说的TMS 是Toronto Montessori School or Town Center Montessori School?
        • They are not related. Toronto Montessori School(TMS) is located at 407/Bayview, richmond hill. Richmond Hill Montessori School(RHMS) has two campus in bayview/16th area of richmond hill.
Town Center Montessori School has three campus (not sure) in Markham. They are the biggest with the number of enrollment, but not the most expensive one.
