from CBC radio this morning:
===============
And think about it …
Back in May of 1939, two police officers showed up at the apartment of a couple in Toronto. She was arrested and sent to a reformatory. Why? She was white and pregnant. He was Chinese.
That same year the city of Hamilton Ontario was refusing to issue marriage certificates for mixed-race couples.
We can look back on that time with incredulity today. How will we and the generation coming behind us view the struggle over this issue sixty years hence?
