本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛Nice to meet you.
I was the developer of the NT driver version 1999 (The only stable version. It came out too late. It is the first project of mine in BST using 5 months. Sigh. Don't know why BST spent some much time on it and delayed so long).
I was the MCS2000 software de-factor main programmer. This system is only used by one end user. But this is as good as other competiters. In some area, much better than they are. It just came out too late. It supports 4 or more different CPUs with processing power of tens of GHZ in 2002.
Xiao tried hard to control the R&D of hardware. But he didn't have that much energy in deed. This made a lot of trouble to our software team. Zhou listened loyally to Xiao. I always argued with Zhou and tried to push him to persude Xiao. I guessed I knew more detail technology in some specific places. No man is perfect. And the company is weak comparing to the enemy. In addition to some marketing failure and some accident. BST faded out.
Back in 1990s, when IT people using the hardware and software from abroad to make fast and easy money, Xiao and his partner (without much help from other organisation) fighted some huge high-tech enemies. I always wants to become one of them. We failed. I was now wasting my life here in Canada, forgetting the technology I got in those projects. My coworkers in BST started a new company which inherited the tech from BST. They continued the fight. But I don't think they can make a legend like Xiao. I hope they can make it. Good luck to them.
Whenever I watched the movie "The arrow", I had the empathy to tears.
I made mistakes in BST too. I was not a person with good temper when I found technolgy things didn't go in the right direction. damn it. It is hard to control.
XIAO and ZHOU is now doing some telcom servicing. I think they will not come back to R&D things anytime soon.
rattle some words. Take it easy.
