I have indicated in previous discussions that I listen to very little music written after 1890's, which is partly why I'm not entirely too comfortable with Mahler's music. His musical language is relatively alien to me compared with that of, say, Brahms. Although both composers wrote very personal music, I somehow have a profound affinity to Brahm's melancholic and introspecitive characters. Perhaps, when I become 50 or older, I will probably get the hang of Mahler's music, because it really takes experience of a lifetime to understand Mahler.
Thanks, you brought up a good discussion~
