Long time no see. How are you these days? Good, I believe.
Yesterday I just went to London, two hours's train fr Toronto. Why did I go there? Just because my dream comes true. The U of Western Ontario accepted my application. Though it's only the undergraduate program, I am so happy! Because the Richard Ivy's business school is the No. 1 in Canada. That's my dream.
My original plan is, after I land here, I will spend one to two mths to study, preparing for GMAT, as I have already submitted everything, except GMAT's score, to several universities. So once I get a quite good mark, and if I am lucky, then I can enter this fall's MBA program. But it's just my naive plan.
The first night I arrived Toronto, I was told that, though you graduated fr MBA, it's still very difficult for you to find a job. That's Canada. It will looking at your Canadian working experience more that your master or even doctor degree. So forget about your MBA dream. Another reason why I shouldn't take MBA is, I will not have a practical skill, such as accounting, or computer, whatever. MBA is so gerneral, and in another word, it's useless for you to find a job. I was attacked and so upset on what my friend told me. That's true. I should face the fact. Another thing is, I don't have enough money to support me, for say, several mths, without working, without income. So I have to lock my MBA books in my case. ( note: I carry several heavy MBA preparation books fr China, as I know books are very expensive here. )
At the end of March, I decided to apply undergraduate program, as many people told me, bachelor degree is even more useful for hunting a job. You know, what I am considering is job-oriented. So I just wanted to try to apply. It depends on my luck, actually, because the deadline is March 1. But I still wanted to try, as I didn't want to waste my another year in waiting. So I prepared everything into one package. Included application form to the Ontario Universities Application Centre, score report for TOEFL( I took it in this Jan in China ), money ( it took me Can$ 145 ). For undergradute application, you can't just apply directly to the schools, and you should send your appl. form to the center in Guelph, which is another city in Ontario. Then the next thing is waiting. I only apply for two universities, u of t and u of w. o.. Because I want a good starting point. If I can't enter this september, I would rather wait to next year.
My first priority is u of t. AS it's the best u in Canada, according to one professional ranking magzine. And I am living in Toronto now, actually I don't want to change a lot again.
But you know what? The processing time for application to u of t is so long. Everytime I keep calling them about the procedure. They just simply ask me to wait. In the mid of May, when I almost forgot I have applied for u of w. o., I reived a letter fr it. It required me to submite other documents, such as the immigration paper, the university's transcipt, two reference letters, and another appl. form to fill in. At that time I was so hesitated to finish these steps, as I only interested in u of t. Fortunately I still wanted to try, because I didn't want to loose any possibility. So I just followed whatever they required. The next day, I sent it out by courier. Because I passed the deadline again. Then I almost forgot about it.
Until yesterday, I suddenly wanted to call the u of w. o., to find out whether I still had a chance to get admission. So I just called them. To my great surprise, they told me I was accepted. And the admission letter was on the way to my home!!! I can't believe it! At that time, it's already 11 am and I am sitting in my office, doing what I usually do. Then I decided to go to the campus to have a look. I am lucky, as the union station is very near to my office. So I called the station to book a round trip ticket to london immediately. The tickets are so expensive, $87.5 ! But I dont' care. After I booked my tickets, I just asked for a half day leave to my supervisor. He is quite nice, letting me go. So I just picked up my stuffs, rushing to the station. Picked up my tickets there, then ran to the train. The train would leave Toronto at 12am, and I arrived there 5 minutes eariler.
