这是Paul Simon的自述性的歌曲，这首歌里包含的故事有点象一部电影“ Midnight
Cowboy” 一个年轻人，还只是个孩子的年龄，来到纽约谋生：

在大都市残酷冷寞的生活中，这个孩子不能找到自己的立足点，他没法融入到那血淋淋的
人与人的拼杀中去，也无法面对人与人之间的冷漠无情，在愤怒和羞耻中(in his anger
and his shame)，他喊出了“ I am leaving, I am leaving” ，但是生活对他的打击并
没有停止，“ the fighter still remains”. 歌曲的最后，是一段长达两分钟的无词的
“ lie-la-la…”的吟唱，吉它声悠扬婉转，声声就象拨在自己的心弦上，使人不禁对人
生的艰难和无奈，对世人之苦寄托了无穷的同情和理解。

But the fighter still remains.
