different pears provide different flavors. You may wish to prepare half the recipe with Bosc or French pears and the other half with red Anjou pears. When your baby has been introduced to all fruit, cook the pears in apple juice or make a pear-and-apple puree by using both fruits in the same puree. This can be fork-mashed later on.

· peel pears, quarter, and core.
· Put into a saucepan with 125 ml (1/2 cup) of water. Simmer for 20-30 minutes or until pears are tender.
· Or, in the microwave, put pears into a covered glass dish with 125 ml (1/2 cup) of water. Cook at medium power 10-15 minutes.
· Allow to stand at least 5 minutes before pouring into the blender.
· Put half the cooked pears into the blender with 30 ml (2 tbsp.) of the cooking water. Puree. Repeat with the remaining pears.
· Pour into ice-cube trays and freeze.
Yield: 2 ice-cube trays full
