As a quick reminder, we are requesting all volunteers to:
1. Arrive between 9:00-9:30am
2. Please dress appropriately for the weather and be prepared to get some mud on your shoes, the site might be wet and soggy if we continue to get rain over the next week!
3. Please bring a shovel for each member of your group. We will have a few extras but these will not be enough for everyone. There is however no need to bring buckets or pails.
4. It is recommended that you also bring gardening or work gloves and, depending on the weather you may want to bring sun hats, bug repellent, etc.
5. We will provide a light BBQ lunch starting at 11.30am. We will serve hotdogs, beef burgers, veggie burgers and soft drinks.
6. We will have portable toilets on site along with a sheltered area and picnic tables to enjoy lunch or take a break.
7. Please supervise any children under your care and remember, there is a small lake at the site as well as potentially slippery slopes and other hazards associated with out door events.
8. Each individual (or group) will be assigned to a planting location upon arrival. We have 10 locations throughout the quarry and by assigning volunteers to specific planting stations we can avoid over-crowding as well as offer you the type of planting activity and location you are most comfortable with, i.e. planting seedlings, wetland plants, larger trees, shrubs, etc.
8. Please do not bring any pets to the event.
9. The planting site is located at 5437 Steeles Avenue in Milton and is easily accessible from the 401 and QEW. Take Tremaine Road to Steeles Ave. and go west on Steeles to the Quarry (2mins west of Tremaine). Please see attached map.
7. Please keep in mind that we are all getting together to help promote the regeneration of wildlife habitat and renaturalize the environment and should try and reduce our impact on the natural environment. Please be cautious as you walk through the site to avoid stepping on existing vegetation and tree seedlings from previous plantings and kindly avoid bringing any items to the event that may end up going to the landfill as garbage.
Please fee free to email me if you have any questions. Once again, thank you for your commitment to the environment. It should be a fun, educational and very productive day. I encourage you to pass this invitation (see below) on to your friends and family -- we still have plenty of space.更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
