The polar bear population has dwindled to around 25,000 and the alarm bell is tolling for their survival. Because of global warming, the sea ice is forming later each year. The bears are having to fast upto 3 weeks longer. Spending less time on the ice means the bears are unable to hunt and build up the body reserves necesary for the summer months on land.
