Nikon D40x with 2 lenses 18-55 + 55-200VR $1200 or D80 with 18-70 + 70-300VR $2040. Which one is more worth buying?

My coworker prefers a 18-200 lens than 2 lenses so he doesn't need to change lens. I am not sure which way I should go. Can you please give your opinion? Thanks.

          Plus, 80-200 is heavier, bigger and cost 30% more. And do I really need to cover 150-200 if I have less interesting in shooting birds?
