He told Jewish leaders a decade ago he favoured funding for faith-based schools. He repeated it in 2001 when he told the Ottawa Citizen he favoured a tax credit for the schools, “somewhere down the road.” Not a word then about the divisiveness or regressive qualities of the issue that now so offend the Premier, or the danger to Ontario’s “social cohesion.”

The premier went to a Catholic sachool, but thinks faith-based schools are divisive and harmful. His kids attended Catholic schools, and his wife teaches in them, but such schools are a threat to the province’s social cohesion.

It’s McGuintylogic, and it seems to run in the family. The Premier’s brother David recently attacked the federal Tories for appointing a Conservative supporter as head of the National Round Table on the Environment and Economy, suggesting it was another example of Ottawa’s obsessive need to control the message. David McGuinty’s job before winning election as a Liberal MP?
