Be realistic , don't expect your insurance broker to educate you. Go to google to put in the insurance' name you want to buy, you will find a great deal of information as you expect, you will have at least half of the broker's knowlege about that insurance then, there is no slight on the broker. Then you call and ask questions, you will tell whether he/she is honest or not easily.
How to deal with your broker?
Remember , insurance broker earn their livings by commision, and their time is their bread. It is ridiculous to make your boker come to your home several times, explain to you for 3 hours per time, and you don't make an offer. Do your home work first, know the basic knowlege of your insurance, make your expectation clear, talking to them and then tell them whether you decide to buy it or not as soon as possible. It is your job to make the your broker's job easy not harder. After closing the deal, if you think he/she is good, you could thank him/ her or send him/her a card just let him/her know you appreciate his/her job, brokers are human being too, they don't only need money, they need recognition too. If there is some problem with this type of insurance, do you think who she/he would inform first?
