It is a beautiful and peaceful town.

I lived in Guelph for two months after I landed Canada.
1) IT jobs. As I know, there are two IT Companies in Guelph. But waterloo and Kitcher is near Guelph. You can try to find a job in those cities. And salary is higher than Guelph. If you work in those cities, it just takes half an hour or more to go to work. For c++developers, it is not difficult to find a job in waterloo and kitcher.
2) It is a beautiful and peaceful town. Downtown has one street and two chinese shops. The chinese food price is a little higher than that in Toronto. And also has a chinese resturant.
3) Has a small river and a rose garden. Also has a beautiful falls near the town. The rental is cheaper. The price of one bedroom is round$600. So some people live in Guelph and work in Toronto.
Good luck.

        • i went there once. small but quiet.
    • It's a pretty small town (100K pop?). Don't think about find a programmer job there. But it is very quite and beautiful. A nice place for studying. You can try to find a job at Waterloo / Kitchener, which is about 20 mins from Guelph by driving.
      • Thanks very much. That's a good news to me.
      • Can you tell me something about IT in Waterloo / Kitchener?
    • I used to live there. It is a beautiful small city with a population of just over 100,000. There is not much opportunity for IT people there. You may be able to find a job in Waterloo, a city about a half hour's drive
away with lots of high tech companies. You can also look for jobs in Toronto. The commute will be a bit tough, but a lot of people do live in Guelph and commute to Toronto everyday. Depending on where you live and work, it could take an hour to 100 minutes during rush hour.
      • Nice to meet you. Did you study in Guelph? What's your major?
        • U of Guelph is best known for its agriculture and biology related programs. I did landscape architecture there.
