you obviously dont have the experience. you don't wanna park and leave to risk your car being towed (out of your sight). so you would have to stand, and be asked to go, andstand at another place and be asked to go again, etc. you end up driving around and around (leaving the terminal and coming back again)...

The father( the author ) is the one who should be put to blame,if the child didn't have a cell phone, even Mr Zhang called, this story still would happen.
If the boy had a cell, like all the other people said, why did he circle around the airport at mid-night, there're lots of coffee shops or parking lots, this sounds to me the boy likes to racing car on the street, not a good boy. So, not a good father, though he can write good story :)
