call the direct energy. they will just convince you rent a new one or convince you buy the old one. just say no then they will give you a date to pick up. put it outside that date and someone will come and pick it up for free.

I called Reliance about my current rental rate(30+GST), it is because my water heater also heats the house, buy out, 1170+GST(3 years old), let it removed, 165+GST, at the end, I got 3 months rental credit if I stay with them for another year.
