枫下家园 / 生活杂事 / 請教：今天收到收債公司的一封信，讓我付錢給它，我不知該怎樣答覆，起因是这样的：一年半前我替朋友租了一个one bedroom，当时交了两个月的房租，签了合同，电费不包，可是朋友仅住了7天就到montreal去了，第8天我将房子退了，当然两个月房租没退，supertantent告诉我就可以了，谁知今天toronto hydro 要收债公司收我198元的电费，我从未收到过应交电费的单子，也未与电力公司有过接触，没有明细，我是不是不应给交这个钱？多谢指教

You don't cancel it? You can call and cancel the service for sure. man, you may make a mistake. Go to the court and argue for yourself.

但是我和电力公司还没有联系时就已经把房子退了，还没有登记怎么cancel呢？，唉。。。真是屋漏偏逢连夜雨

I think the superintendent had registered you to Hydro and the first day you rented the apartment is the first day the Hydro billed you.

Thank you for your reply,But I nerver received a bill to pay the Hydro.Why Hydro didn't send me a bill one and a half year ago? I think they ought to give me a invoice to state the period and quantities which I used.

Just guess, they might send it to the address of the apartment, but your friend left. However, you can appeal that you'd never received the bill.When I left the apartment, I told Hydro when was the last day and my new address, they sent me the bill later to my new address.
You can try to appeal. It's really a bad Canadian experience because we didn't have experience about so many things when we came here. Sometimes I feel frustrated when I met such kind of things, but we have to face it and get lesson from it.
