料峭春风吹酒醒...

本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛料峭春风吹酒醒,
微冷,
山头斜照却相迎。
回首向来萧瑟处,
归去,
也无风雨也无晴。

Yes, as our weather girl said, we should ask ourselves
what we get from this trip, why the instance noodle
tasted so delicious, why a bottle of lake water which
has been barely purified has such a distinct flavour,
and why we could have so much joy and fun which have
been away from us for quiet some time?

Seeing that big bird flying gracefully over the Lake,
stars twinkling over the dark blue sky, and the spring
water running besides the hiking trail, you will feel
the nature of the Nature is really simple, and simple
is a very beautiful thing, perhaps we have addhered
too much to the civilzation, and it makes our life too
complicated.

the trip makes us closer to that simple, and it gives
the sense of the freedom, we know we could release
ourselves from the burden which we don't really need.

the trip gives us courages, we can acheive something
we have never experience before, even it sounds
horribly difficult, and we can do it pretty well.

the trip brings us the friendship, everybody will get
some trouble at some time of their life, whatever it
is your car or your ankle, but you will feel
psychologically comfortable when you know there are
always so many hands besides you willing to help.

and, the trip brings us a lot of FUNNNNNNNNNNNNN!

OH, HA HA HA HA.....
OH, HA HA HA HA.....

我坦然,欣然,我将大笑,我将歌唱.

咳,农夫山泉有些甜唻,哈姨妖歪......

and as you know, we will review this soon.

      何妨吟啸且徐行。

      竹杖芒鞋轻胜马,谁怕?

      一蓑烟雨任平生。

This poem popped up to my mind while we were tramping the hills and brooklets, even though we had three wonderful days without a trace of rain or thunderstorm. I am so happy that I responded to Dennis’ email and joined in this amazing trip. Actually it is just the kind of thing I have been dreaming for years: get away from the civilized conveniencies for a few days, listen to wings of loons skimming along the lake, watch Milky Way blinking over camp fire, have sapphire dragonflies perching on my shoulder, and troop through woods with the rhythm of woodpeckers knocking into the bark…….

My sister always teases me, “ What is the fun of that?” In order to make her understand, I described this fascinating trip would be full of danger and temptation. Last night just after I arrived home, she called me from Los Angeles,

“ I am surprised you are still alive!”

      “ Of course I could survive, I am a strong camper. “

      “Have you seen a bear?”

      “ No. “ I managed to say.

      “Have you seen any wolf?”

      “No.”

“ Then, what on earth did you see?”

I could not answer her question. Because I have seen so much, it is really hard to list them all.

I have seen dedication and enthusiasm. It is beyond my imagination that you guys could organize a camping trip so well: the whole ideas and arrangement, traditional and modern communication systems, the most delicious apples in the world, five-star luxurious tent ….

I have seen the magic of Chinese medicines. I am sure I can do some jogging today, even though I was proudly ranked first on Spraining Your Ankle contest.

I have seen silent support from the helping hands with backpacks and the view of precursor’s back on the trail and in the lake. I can’t make it without your guys around me.

I have seen care and friendship. I heard that the other two cars came home safe and sound and I wish Daren's (spelling?) car don’t have anything serious. Thanking for those who companied me back to Toronto earlier. But I really feel sorry for you. Because of me, we didn’t be there for Daren when he needed our support. Especially when I got to know my interview was arranged on Thursday.

      ………

Right now I still suffer from the horrible mosquito bites. Even a small black dot on the wall or a tiny small inset flying around me can get on my nerve. But I have to say, this trip is the most enjoyable outings I have experienced!
      Have a nice day,

无一人掉队,无一人受伤....backpack camping is such a amazing & different experience ....
      • Good job.
      • last week , we met a group at algonquin west upland trail entrance...
7 men and 5 women just arrived when we entered the entrance. We stayed at Maggie Lake two nights and went out on the third days. We were really tired and met them again at the entrance. They look so energetic and they went out the trail earlier than us!
Is that group your group, falcon?
        • hoho....are you the guy who took pics for us when we get out ? It must be us as we didn't met other big group that weekend.
          • I am planning to go there on Jul 30--Aug 1, and I would like to get some information from you. If you don't mind, please give me a call. Please check your PM.
            • I'm so busy lately...can you post your questions here ? I'm sure other backpack lover would like to know more about it as well..........
              • Thanks anyway!!
              • first, I need to know where can I get the map. Second, I need to know the total cost of 3 days hiking (per person). Third, do I need to book camping site ? thanks a lot.
                • 1. You can get trail map at west gate office, $1.95 each, very useful if you know how to read contour map. 2. we end up with $80/person. 3. You do need to book site. 4. check photohiker's post, he used to gave us lot of useful tips...
                  • First of all, thank you so much. Second, there is one more question. could you give a website that I could book a camping site?
                    • I got it.
                      • food is very important, buy at least 50% more than what you planned. You need lot of food after hours of hiking with the big packs...
                        • bring some 人丹if it's not already in your list
                          • My frined tole me that I don't need book a camping site for backpack hiking, is that ture? By the way, what 's 人丹 for what? thanks a lot
                            • 人丹is prevent you from 中暑, at Algonquin you DO need book a camp site for backpack camping. take a good look at that algonquin's official website
                              • 遵命
