Should donations supporting a specific Red Cross disaster relief effort surpass the amount required, the remainder will be directed as follows:

* Donations exceeding the amount required by Red Cross to respond to a specific Canadian disaster will be directed to the Canadian Disaster Relief Fund - a fund that provides support to people affected by future domestic disasters.
* Donations exceeding the amount required by Red Cross to respond to a specific International disaster will be directed to the International Disaster Relief Fund - a fund that provides support to people affected by future international disasters.

    请不要将款项直接捐给加拿大红十字会,可以捐到中国红十字会,或者中领馆.我有朋友已经捐款给加拿大红十字会,结果在捐款完毕后得到一张statement，上面说明了这次给中国地震的援助是有一个限额的，（具体金额我记不清楚了），如果大家的捐款超过了这个限额，超过部分也不会达到灾区，会被分配到世界其他项目.

      If what you said is true, we can go for line19 for complaint and escalation.

      2. to know that their donation will be used for the purpose for which it was given
      10. to be provided with reports on the way that funds have been spent
      19. to have the right to escalate a complaint to The Canadian Red Cross Society’s Board of Governors and if still not satisfied to submit a complaint directly to the Canadian Centre for Philanthropy.

    • This is not true. I phoned Canadian Red Cross around 2:00pm this afternoon and has talked with one of their National Directors. According to her, -patti6(想跳舞的大豆); 2008-5-14 {630} (#1387@49)
      the statement on their website is a general one that applies to all the disasters. It is Chinese Red Cross who will be deciding whether the sonations are sufficient or not. Canadian Red Cross are working closely with Chinese Red Cross. Should Chinese Red Cross indicate that the donations raised in Canada exceed their needs, Canadian Red Cross will post message on the donation website letting donors aware of this. And they are also planning to change the message on their website to make it clear to the donors. NEVERTHERLESS, I THINK DONATING TO HK RED CROSS OR CHINESE RED CROSS IS BETTER DUE TO LESS OVERHEAD TO BE DEDUCTED.

      考虑到加拿大一向不是很乐意向中国捐款，而加拿大华人捐款人数众多。估计90%以上捐款不可能交到中国同胞手中。东南亚水灾捐款还有2亿多加元躺在加拿大银行里。

      交给中国的部分加拿大红十字会向中国收取大约20-40%管理费。
