toronto star has a good report on it.

Toronto Star 这篇报道中立客观,没有涉及任何政治。其它主流媒体,每次都是前半部分报灾情,后面一大半还是绕到“豆腐渣”工程等阴暗面,时刻不忘诋毁中国及其政府。>>>

The Western media criticize their own governments a lot more viciously than they criticize China. That's how a democratic society works, the media is suppose to monitor and criticize the government, not praising it

I don't understand why you have this impression, 90% of articles I read in the media show strong sympathy to China's quake, and said Chinese rescue effort is a stark contrast to the behaviour of Burma's military regime. The shoddy constructions and corner cutting of corrupted government officials and greedy businessmen contributes to the overwhelming number of deaths. We are all from China and we know this is probably true, there's nothing wrong to point it out.

It's NOT a reporter's job to 救火. It IS a reporter's job to try to find out the 100 reasons why the fire occurred, why it caused so many deathes, what are the lessons learned and what can be improvedIf you read news on any disaster reports, fire, tornado, quake, you will see the same style of reporting, no matter where the disaster strikes.

RIGHT NOW a reporter's job is to call for 救灾救人 instead of blaming.《我不许你这么说!”联合国新闻发言人力挺中国》 >>>>

I believe the media has done enough covering the cruelty of the disaster, the suffering of the victims and calling for donations. Of course, you can't expect it to react as strongly as if the quake happens in Canada. How many people in China donated when 911 or Katrina happened?

You are right. However the western media never blamed Tibetan mobs in China and those who dogged the Olympic torch relay. It's imbalanced and biased reports that make us angry. Everyone agrees that Chinese government is far from perfect.

Of course not! I read NY times everyday, during the Olympic torch rally, all they reported was how pro-Tibet demonstrated, they only showed 1 or 2 pics of how Chinese students demonstrated, and they didn't even made it clear that those studentsare pro-China.

Then stop reading NY Times and switch to People's daily. Every paper, every article has some kind of biase to a certain degree as long as it's written by human beings. In a free country, you have freedom to choose to read which newspaper, watch which TV station, and believe whatever you want to believe in those media. But it never guarantees everything you read is truth and unbiased.

We are talking about western media's bias. You do not need to shift direction. The truth is, people like you should read more People's daily. While you are protecting(even bragging about) western media, you should get a sense of how Chinesepeople feel.

Just look at this title - "Olympic Torch Protesters Attacked in South Korea ". They have been trying to create a very negative image of Chinese students.
