Allan Allan, most Chinese would love you but some would hate you. Hope your posting remains.

Even though I may still vote for the Conservatives in the next election simply because there is just no other parties to vote for, I fully support your position and admire that you speak out.

在N个英文论坛上我都提过,加拿大政府迟来的援助是good move, served the purpose well. 在Rolia上关起门来还不能一吐为快吗? 我觉得自欺欺人的没什么用,现总理这次对华的态度就是冷.很多加拿大人也对此有微词.比如这个:15063. Eric said on May 18, 2008 at 9:38 am
I am a Canadian currently living in China, have been for 3 years. The Chinese people have been nothing but helpful, friendly, kind hearted and supportive each and everyday I walk their streets. I can not believe the current Harper Regime can not find it in their cold blooded hearts to help a brother in need. You bloody bastards shame on you, you have hurt the good Canadian name abroad and fellow Canadians overseas shall never be looked at the same!

If Canada gets hit by the same earthquake, do you think China would care too much? When was the last time people in China donated to any disaster victims abroad.

What a short memory: in 2005, China sent the US $5 million in cash, plus a Boeing-747 freighter plane full of relief stuff from like tents, small-size petroleum generators, bed sheets to children garment, to help in hurricane Katrina relief efforts. From what I perceive, when such a tragedy happens, China would tend to be self-reliant, and asking for out-side world’s help would be the last thing do do. However, China is so friendly, that when similar tragedy happens in some other parts of the world, she would offer generous help without thinking twice. I mean she was really trying to help.

1. China's population is 50 times of Canada's. 2. Canada's donation to the earthquake (public and private) have well exceeded $5 million.

I was talking about Canada government. I can not blame any individual Canadian for not donating, however I am very thankful to those who did help. BTW you know that average Chinese are still not so well-off as an average Canadian. And I agree (if you meant to say) that China is still a developing country, in social and economic aspects. Even average Chinese are affluent enough (which I don't think is the case as for now), still there are literally no working system for charitable donations to cater to domestic and foreign humanitarian relief needs. I personally acknowledge that the people in China have a long way to go for individuals/organizations other than the government to help others in the world in this regard.

美国总统布什在知道地震后的第一时间说: America stands ready for any help. 可哈破过了多长时间没有任何表示,现在经过反复衡量,发布了这样的消息,不是作秀是什么? 请别偷换概念。我鄙视哈破,与受难的中国同胞心心相连。 另外, 以后请别跟我的帖子。

哈珀第一时间同大使通话,说ready for any help. 你以为媒体没报,人家就没做啊。加拿大的中文媒体那几个记者全堆多伦多温哥华了。
