有Master of Nursing/Master of Sci in Nursing学历的护士可以被聘用为CNS(clinical nurse specialist)。如果再读/考一个certificate出来(比如family practice), 考出RN extended class [RN(EC)]的话就是nurse practitioner (NP), 可以看病开要, 而且安省大概会在2010年通过the Regulated Health Professions Statute Law Amendment Act,给予NP更大的权力,比如order full sets of X-rays, order MRI, etc.

suggestioni think the most important thing for you is to decide if you will choose nursing as your profession. i believe you are smart. if you want you can be a NP in 5-6 years. it means a lot of things. eg. make > 100k/year. MD is the best profession. but you have to invest a lot first. so, think it carefully and make your decision as soon as possible. "time is money", right? also remember, if you become a NP in the future, you must have some clinical experience. it is very very important. good luck.

many NEW GRADUATE RNs (in GTA area) can make more than 70K/year. if you calculate it you will know it is not a hard thing. a chinese NP (a new immigrate) can do the same thing. unless he/she does not want to do it.

Most new grads are not able to find full time positions. The AVERAGE SALARY OF RNs in Ontario INCLUDING NPs MANAGERS & SUPERVISORS is ONLY 70k.

By the way I forgot to add that the salary of public healthcare workers is not location depended as long as you're working in the same province. The union offers almost exactly the same wage all across the province. Non-unionized places pay less. And GTA RNs are paid almost the same as other Ont. RNs.

If "many" RN new grads are making 70k now then you should probably see "many" of them driving bmw & MBs as well. Not to mention that an entry class BMW & MBs only start from around 35k.
