相约北美 / 移民留学 / Anyone can answer me whether it is true that a new immigrant has to have very good English skills to get a job quickly? I found many job ads require good English oral and writing skills but don't demand very much at the technical skills you should have.

At least you should not have problem to talk in English in your interview.

For English, the most important is that you could understand what they are saying; your speaking (grammer, or words use) are not so important to be correct, they can always understand you.

It took me 8 months to get my first job although I believed I had very good English communication skills.

Yesterday is my first day working in Canada.I was so tired because I had to listen and speak in English for the whole day.
I know I can not catch a single word when I am nervous. So, I didn't understand the VP, who introduced me the business, the policy and my job duty non-stop at the first 2 hours. Then I just kept on nodding when I was introduced to each person working here. That really drove me crazy!
I went to bed at 8 o'clock as soon as I finished my dinner.
Terrible day! Now I want to study English!

Keep smile feifei, no matter how upset you are. Girls who are always smiling are most welcomed in a company. Your colleagues wouldn't appreciate a dumb coworker with most productivity but a girl who bring them smile.

Keep trying. You'll be okay after the 1st month. Then you're going to enjoy your work (include those meetings.)

Thanks, all of you.
I found that others say diferent English from me. For example, my tutor in the driving school said "he is my car instructor" to me, not "tutor". I am just wondering whether they think my English sounds strange to them.
