My memeory told me that you dont need a visa prior your arrival in that case. We took a JAL filght from LA to Beijing with one night stop-over at Osaka.

then no visa then. But when I was at the customs of the airport, I saw lots of chinese passport holders line up at a booth, I heard they were signing up for some kind of temporary transit permit whatever...

同意numnum。但是确实不需要VISA,日本有落地签证72小时。

记得上次投诉JAL的事吗？没什么紧急事件还好，一旦飞机晚点或改降机场，拿中国护照的就倒霉了。

记得以前从美经东京回国，坐联航，到成田机场时晚了点，转接的飞机已飞走了，就办了个落地签证，被安排在机场宾馆住了一晚，没什么麻烦呀

Yeah, you are right, This is the reason I choose JAL.But I am not sure if I need to offload my luggage, If yes, It maybe big problem to new immigrant with lots of luggages. Who know how JAL deal with stopover flight's luggages? Or Their Agent 's telphone number?

只要不出机场就不用接受检查吧？？日本（成田）是出机场时才抽查的呀。：）
