工作学习 / IT杂谈 / 朋友给了台Ungermann-Bass，上面有两个Fiber port,一个是RX，另一是TX，然后还有16个电脑线插口－－－－Access/Stax(AH1600M),还有个COM PORT，还有EXPANSION的两个口，IN和OUT，请问这东东有什么用处？能当路由器用吗？谢谢！型号是MAC 00DD01228294,

It's an ATM switch. Fiber ports are for OC-3 ATM and the rest are Fastethernet switch ports. Com port is for console use.

Switch ports can be used to connected mutiple PCs. It only does layer 2 switching and most likely there is no DHCP. So you need to use static IP on all the PCs.

Switch is better than the hub that each port is seperate and there is no collision/ As a result it can run full duplex. But early version may only supports 10M instead of 100M. Please check out.
