I think you mean SD vs. CF card. they are not same, from dimension to format. SanDisk is a manufacture name. Try Tigerdirect.ca to find good deal of these cards.

It seems SD stands for both "secured digital card" and "ScanDisk card". that's why I asked. what's CF?

I don't know any "ScanDisk Card". If you mean "SanDisk", it is a manufacture who maks all different cards, including SD(secure Digital,) CF(Compact Flash), MemoryStick, SmartMedia, Ultra II CF, Ultra II SD etc
