The main character loved Beethoven's 9th. But he was forced to listen to it over and over again while he was also forced to watch horrible and disgusting movies. Since then, he could not stand Beethoven's 9th.

音乐确实是好音乐,只是写它们的人都有些病态。比如马勒,不是那种immediately accessible and universally loved作曲家,非要生活经历同样坎坷才容易理解他。Are you in China or still in Toronto?

very few art works are universally love. 反过来, 如果大家整天都讲门德尔松的音乐如何之好, 如何地纯真, 我们听久了也会说: 太简单了, 没劲. 比如说, 大家都说莫扎特如何地伟大, 但我听多了也会有一写疲劳: 怎么都一个味?已经被流方了.

I agree. 风格始然。历史上几个innovative/revolutionary作曲家会经历风格上的转变,比如早期的贝多芬和晚期的贝多芬就完全不一样,早期的勋伯格和后来的勋伯格也是。
