You may need to have a 1394 card (fireware card) additionally.
I have it set in my computer, and I make VCD, make fun!!

a 1394 card can not help you. Grace made a mistake. 8mm/Hi 8 are analog format.

应该是digital8digital8最大的卖点就是可以把以前的模拟录像带不经过任何设备转换成数字的格式，当然，要把它传到计算机了，你肯定还需要一块1394卡。

Not yet.I want to buy a MiniDv format camcorder(jvc 310 is my favorite), because I had a digital camera already, but my computer has no more slot for a 1394 card, I need to buy a new computer first..
