I think the ideal picture will be a combination of ［马赛克文化］(multicultural mosaic) 和［熔炉文化］（melting pot). One of my friends, who got naturalized in Canada, said that first and foremost she was a Canadian, and then a Sikh,not other way around.

桌子难得写正式文章,支持一下.不过不敢苟同.加拿大的多元文化实际是和欧洲特别是英国学的.美国的熔炉文化是因为美国是一个全新的国家,创造了全新的文化.在自由女神像下的几句话写得很清楚.

No, "加拿大的多元文化实际是和欧洲特别是英国学的" is absolutely not true. The UK is not a multicultural mosaic nation at all, and discrimination and prejudice against immigants is actually fierce.

Canada is not born multicultural mosaic at all. The multicultural mosaic policy originiated from the Trudeau government, because by that time, Canada was extremely short of labour force due to the sharply decreasing birth rate.Before then, the Canadian immigration policy aimed to build up a white Canada focusing on bringing first and foremost white people to this counry from Western, Northern, Southern and then Eastern Europe.
