XT is replaced by XTi = 400D I guess. I just ordered one this morning from BustBuy sale. $999.99; I tried D80 and XTi yesterday in store, XTi has better menu for setups than 80D. Butit's smaller - makes the grip and push button a little difficult for some people.

不错，但是很多人为买它作为过渡产品比较理想的是350d/400D ==> 20D ==> 5D ＝＝>1D.中间可以买镜头。如果是买台够用不打算换的，就在D70/D80和350D/400D之间选择使用比较舒服的。 350D和400D之间差两百块钱，如果还没有配件可以买些配件，CF卡，灯，单脚架、三脚架，包包，都是摄影必备。

Thanks a lot for these suggestions. I don't have SLR experience. The lenses are confusing - too many models. 17-55 mm may not be enough. What would be the recommended long zoom lens for it?

日系产品做得产品线很长，各档之间的价格差很小市场策略就是要把消费者口袋里的钱都挤出来，所以别上当。除非你的budget正好是30D的售价，否则如果你的预算低于13xx，就别添钱去买；如果你能承受20D就别为了省钱买低一档。
