BGP is fun when you have real world networks to play with.

如果网络基础很差,那就只能多看几遍。有机会搭个环境玩玩,就会理解深刻一些。

for your info, you can run BGP with FreeBSD boxes. all you need is a few used PC's with the open-source OS. :)

zebra is what i know. be careful though, confine to your own internal network and don't let it talk to your ISP - they'll kill ya if ya do!!! :D

why is that? BGP is just one standard protocol. why do they care what implementation I use if I am doing it properly?

u know BGP is a network routing/peering protocol. If u run BGP peering with ur ISP without their consent (either via misconfig or malicious config ;)), u could change or poison their routing tables, etc.

well if you dont know what you are doing then you can basically mess up the internet routing table with any BGP programs. it is all up to the people who use it. zebra is not to blame for the mess. right?

一个巴掌拍不响, right! your ISP side will usually have policy to limit routes sent to them. You cannot screw up the ISP's routing table!

come on , if he can't understand BGP , how can he setup BGP with FreeBSD :) , get 2-3 routers to play with it .

set up routers (PC-based here) - that's the way to learn networking. i never read unless i have to use something. :)

Vmware server is a freeware to run multi OS in one PC.
Vyatta has a community version, support popular routing protocols, BGP included.
You may run several Vyatta OFR with the help of VMware, connect routers via internal LAN section.
